I have received notes from people all over the world these past few days and I want to let you know that I've read and listened to every single thing: Facebook message/share/likes, Whatsapp messages and text messages, emails and voicemails.
Some of you are friends and family I've known my whole life, some of you I've never even met, some of you came into my life or Jimmy's life for a brief second and you still showed up -- thank you, it means so much. If you haven't come forward yet because you're afraid you might intrude, or that you didn't know me well enough, don't worry. I would love to hear from you.
I may not respond to you immediately or maybe at all, just because everything is really overwhelming right now, but trust that I've seen it and I appreciate it. Thank you. Your thoughts, prayers, words and presence help so very much.
If you'd like advice on how to approach us or what to say, a simple hug is enough. Silence is okay too. A heart emoji is gracious and kind and sometimes the perfect gesture. Don't worry about saying the right thing, your presence says a lot more than words can.
If you'd like to give something to honor Jimmy we are in the process of setting up a Texas exes scholarship. I'll let you know when we know more.
As for going forward? Random check-ins mean a lot. We'll need it next week, next month, on Jimmy's birthday on January 27th, and in the years to come. It is all welcome and appreciated and will never, ever be intrusive or poorly timed.
Thank you for your love, your presence and your heart emojis.
